UGX 5 Billion pledge by President Museveni to Support Uganda’s Content Creators

President Museveni acknowledged the role of digital content creators in modern wealth creation, noting that social media has become a powerful tool for communication and marketing, succeeding traditional advertising methods. During the second edition of #JazzWithJajja, President Yoweri K. Museveni pledged UGX 5 billion to support content creators in Uganda, highlighting the growing importance of the digital economy

Adressing the President, celebrated content creator Isaac katende popularly known as kasuku emphasized that the digital economy is creating significant employment opportunities for youth, particularly in content creation. Kasuku also illustrated how digital creators are helping other sectors, such as agriculture, by promoting products and processes to wider audiences.

It was Kasuku, who directly reminded the President about earlier pledges to support the digital sector. He called for seed capital to strengthen their association and establish a SACCO to provide structured financial backing for content creators.

President Museveni acknowledged the role of digital content creators in modern wealth creation, noting that social media has become a powerful tool for communication and marketing, succeeding traditional advertising methods. He assured that the government would support these young innovators, recognizing their contributions to Uganda’s emerging digital economy. He also described content creation as a modern form of sales promotion, arguing that creators play a crucial role in linking consumers to goods and services.

“What you are calling content is sales promotion for people to know about goods and people buy them. That should be supported, especially if you are promoting local products. Then you become a useful partner,” he said.

The pledge dint go well with most netizens as they sighted that the funds could have been invested in National infrastructure such as roads and hospitals.
