FIGHT HARD MR. UPDATE: STATE TORTURED KAWEMPE NORTH MP HON. SSEGIRINYA MUHAMMAD DEAD AT 37

Kawempe North Member of Parliament Hon. Muhammad Ssegirinya was pronounced to have passed on the morning of Thursday 9th January 2025. Hon. Ssegirinya breathed his last at Lubaga Hospital, where he had been receiving medical care.

Hon. Ssegirinya, who had been in and out of hospitals since his release from prison, had reportedly been in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for several days.

National Unity Platform (NUP) Secretary General David Lewis Rubongoya addressing the media confirmed the news of his passing from the deceased’s family.

“We were called this morning by his mother that he passed on. He has been in ICU for days. It is very unfortunate that he has lost his life after such a long struggle. He has been a fighter. He has been one of those who speak the truth. We shall communicate to the country officially.”

It should be remembered that just months after his landslide victory, Ssegirinya and fellow NUP MP Allan Ssewanyana were arrested and charged in connection to the machete killings in the Greater Masaka region, where over 20 people lost their lives. The pair was rearrested at the outskirts of Kigo Prison and faced fresh murder charges coming from the same incident in Lwengo District just after they were granted bail on September 21, 2021, Outspoken, stood his ground, served the Nation, Rest in Peace Mr. Update.
